We are thrilled to announce that Chelsea Frengs has joined @true.grit.racing as a Pro Racer for the 2027 season! Chelsea is an endurance athlete from Pleasantville, New York, who spent years in triathlon before the dirt pulled her in for good and the results since have been nothing short of extraordinary. In 2026 alone, Chelsea podiumed at every single race she entered - including 3rd Overall Female at Unbound 200 and, most recently, 1st Overall Female at The Rift 200km in Iceland. She is the definition of quietly dangerous. A software engineer by day, Chelsea races the way she builds: methodically, patiently, with zero wasted effort - until it’s time to go, and then she just goes. Nine years sober, she’ll tell you endurance sport gave her more than fitness - it taught her how to keep showing up. We cannot wait to see what she does in the Pro field. This is only the beginning.

We are growing significantly for 2027!! From an 8 racer team in 2026 we expect to go into 2027 with 22 riders! Almost tripling the team. Our Pro Men’s team is now full and we are actively looking to fill our Pro Women’s team next! We have 2 open slots on that team. For the Age Group Racers we have 3 open slots. 2 for women and 1 for men. The newly launched Club Racer team is wide open! We will be filling 4 women and 4 men’s slots. Jacob Schneller is a gravel and road racer from Lawrence, Kansas. After discovering cycling through Bike Across Kansas, he quickly developed into one of the nation’s top young off-road racers. In just a few years, Jacob has progressed from racing local Midwest events to earning a spot in the 2026 Lifetime Grand Prix U23 field. His career highlights include a 10th-place overall finish at the Unbound Gravel 100, the 2025 Gravel Worlds U23 Championship, and the 2025 Great Plains Gravel Cup Overall U23 Championship. Away from racing, Jacob studies Exercise Science and Nutrition at the University of Kansas, where he also serves as President of the University of Kansas Cycling Club. We have been working hard on finding the right ways to build True Grit Racing for 2027. As we’ve recruited for Pro racers and soon age groups racers, we realized that we were missing something. This is why we launched the Club Racer program. This team will be made up of 8 racers. As with all our teams we will recruit 4 women and 4 men. Ultimately this program was built around the racers that couldn’t meet the minimum requirements of the Age Group racers. Racing is expensive and we want to support folks who simply can’t go to a minimum of 8 major races per year, but still race hard in a more regional capacity. The commitments to racing are more attainable and we want to build this team with dedicated, motivated racers who like to have fun but race hard when it’s time! I’m not built for 13%+ inclines…….especially at 8000ft! I made it but I truly suffered. The sauna is definitely doing its job though as the heat was not an issue for me. It got up to 105deg and I had no issues.
